In Sydney for a very short run this production ticked all the boxes and then some. The cast consisted of 5 excellent performers, three of whom did the lions share of work with aplomb. We knew we were in safe hands right from the start. The set whilst simple was used with efficiency and skill. The opening number is one of the more well known songs (30/90) and set the tone. The story is of Jonathon Larsen who is a struggling artist, creating a musical and preparing for it to be previewed. You can see where his inspiration for Rent came from. Hugh Sheridan played the lead and was impressive both vocally and acting. We were equally impressed by Finn Alexander playing his friend Michael. Simple set, complex result. A real winner and would go again if given a chance. We had seen this musical once before done by an amateur theatre group at home, but as expected this was another level altogether.
